The short answer
A redesign usually costs about the same as building a new site of the same size, because most of the work is design and rebuilding pages. With us that starts at £149 for a one-page site and £299 for up to five pages. A repair, such as fixing a broken form or a slow page, is often much less. We quote a fixed price after looking at your current site.
Repair or redesign?
- A repair is usually enough when the site looks fine but one thing is broken: a contact form that does not send, a security warning, a page that will not load, or out-of-date prices.
- A redesign makes sense when the site is hard to use on a phone, looks dated next to competitors, loads slowly everywhere, or nobody can update it any more.
What changes the price
- How many pages you have and how many you want to keep
- Whether the text needs rewriting or can be reused
- Features such as booking, an online shop or a members area
- Whether your site needs moving to new hosting
- How much of the old content needs tidying up
Protect what already works
If your old site appears in Google for useful searches, a careful redesign keeps those page addresses or points the old addresses at the new pages. This stops you losing visitors you already have. Ask any designer how they will handle this before you agree a price.
